arcplasma.com provides you with what is known as a Wireless Internet Connection. It is similar to how the radio works in your car. You are provided with a transmitter and a receiver (in one single piece of equipment, a small box known as a bridge) that connects your computer to an antenna. Depending on your distance from the arcplasma.com main tower, your antenna could be large or small. This antenna simultaneously transmits and receives data from the arcplasma.com main tower. Connected to the arcplasma.com main tower are our servers, which handle all of the Internet connections, including HTTP browsing and mail transfer. If you have more than one computer in your home, you can set up a Local Area Network (LAN). This will prevent you from having an antenna and a bridge for each of your computers. Please visit the Contact page for information on how and when to contact arcplasma.com if you are interested in this. Ask for a technician and discuss your needs with him.
Certainly not! arcplasma.com service does not use a phone line, or any other line (except to connect your computer to the equipment) for that matter. arcplasma.com provides a wireless connection to our system, so it won't tie up anything in your home. See the FAQ entry entitled How does arcplasma.com service work? for more information on how the arcplasma.com service functions.
No. While this is true of poorly designed and poorly maintained wireless networks, arcplasma.com service will not be affected by the rain. If you have used other local Internet Service Providers, such as Nautilus Commercial Data Systems, you may have noticed that their service was affected by rain. This is because of an improperly configured link between access points. When rain interferes with the link between one or two nodes, all subsequent nodes fail. The link between multiple nodes on such a network uses a much higher frequency, which is extremely volatile if not correctly configured. arcplasma.com service does not use such high-frequency node links, so no rain interference is incurred.

Because they charge too much. The price that we charge was carefully calculated to cover the costs of the link to the Internet backbone in Kansas from AT&T. Other local companies are worried too much about profit or tax write-offs, and charge outrageous prices.
